Migration running instances into a changed snapshot
Hallo,
I'm currently investigating BPM solutions for an actual refactoring project. Pega seems to be one of the options how we could do this But there remains one question at the moment: What would happen to running process instances when I change the workflow, e.g. I add a new step.
Is there any option to migrate them into the changed workflow or do they need to be completed in the old one?
I'd be grateful for getting some hints.

Hello,
Yes, if you change a flow, the change will be picked up by open items. This is a double edged sword because if you add assignments, your items are sure to see them, but you also need to be aware that you can't remove assignment shapes if there are items on there, or you will leave the items in a bad state. What you can do is remove the connectors into them, so that no new items go do that shape and then allow the existing items to function based on where they are.
