If what you mean is when the Pega server is down, I imagine you would be getting a 404 response? In that case, you could customize this return page with some other message than the default Tomcat/app server response page.

When using a version of PRPC that uses pzIncludeMashupScripts this is pretty easy to do.
Below is the code I use for this example. I simply display a div with an error message but within that function you could redirect or display something else.
The "pzIncludeMashupScripts" call will fail if the system is down. With the script not coming down there is no way for the mashup to display as the script is what parses the Mashup <div>.
The condition check of "typeof(pega)" is checking if the script content was returned. If not, display the "prpcDown" div. You could do a redirect to a common static error page as well if you wanted.
