Making sections read only, disabling links and buttons when used on same screen?
Hello,
We have a requirement such that whatever the data user enters throughout all the screens of a case have to be shown at the bottom of the screen in tabbed format so that the user gets a 360 degree view of data entered across the screens so far without having to navigate back and forth to each and every screen. What we initially did was we used the same sections that are used at the top in the bottom 360 degree view tabs. While including sections, we made it 'Read Only' in presentation options for that section. But this only makes fields read only but does not disable links and buttons. Also fields marked 'Editable' for 'Edit Options' in 'Presentation' tab of field properties in the section, remain editable. We tried using conditions with flags to disable links and make fields read only but it did not work as its also effecting normal screen sections upon refresh. As a result we had to do 'Save As' of many sections and remove links and buttons and then use in bottom 360 degree view tabs. Is there any way to do this without doing 'Save As' of sections and customizing them? Please suggest

For the non actionable controls like text input, drop down - Just mark the edit option as Auto. Now just include the section(containing these controls) inside the dynamic layout and mark the edit option of section as Read Only(Always). This way the section readonly will be cascaded to the controls.
For actionable controls like button - you could configure disabled when with !pxIsEditable When rule. This will disable the buttons as and when the section is enforcing read only.

You may create a custom CSS class and apply it conditionally on the controls for which you don't want click/hover events to fire.
Sample CSS class:-
.customInactive {
pointer-events: none;
}
Please note that when CSS "pointer-event" is set to "none", then it doesn't allows elements to receive hover/click events, instead the event will occur on anything behind it. It is supported in most modern browsers like IE11, Chrome, Firefox etc.
Please test the above suggestion and get back to us with the outcome.
