Logging for Pega DSM components (Primarily data flow and Strategy)

We are planning to enable logging for data flow and strategies for the following scenarios.

1. execution path or condition/join getting failed etc.

2. Logging for exception scenarios.

I have tried enabling logger for data flow class but unable to see entries on log files.

Please help.

Hi,

Have you verified following areas for your below Qns:

Qn1: Suggest using unit test feature available within strategy canvas to test the logic

Qn2: Data Flow run metrics should give you detailed information about the DF run and in case of failure under failure column, componentwise failure count will listed. Clicking on the hyperlink will take you to the detailed failure information page.

Hi Santosh,

Appreciate your response.

We have REST/SOAP services which in turn calls the Data flow and Strategies. We want to log entries for the following.

  • Data Flow 
    • If no record returned then which join/Filter etc. failed.
    • If something failed then which shape and which customer etc.
  • Strategy
    • If no record then which sub-strategy and which shape etc.

Hi Sowmlaya,

Are you planning to gather the answers on your production system? Does the logging work at all on your system? Which level of logging are you looking for?

Logging for Strategy classes works the same way as for other platform classes, thus it should work as long as the logging feature works for you in general. 

Another alternative to logging (and also preferred), have you tried any PRPC built-in tools (e.g. Tracer etc.) to gather the information you are looking for?

Hi Chenq,

Yes I want to enable logging in production. Currently I am unable to log in development itself. In my system I am able to enable logger for Activities etc. But when I am adding the strategy class in Logger I am unable to see anything in log files. 

Is there anything specific we need to do to enable strategy logging.

Please advise.
