Left Join in a ListView
Hello together,
I am facing an issue in a ListView in Pega 7.1.9. I am making a join of two DB tables in a ListView. The problem occurs when there is only one of the DB tables filled with data. As the ListView is using a inner join, I won't receive any result.
Is there somehow a way to do a left join in a ListView? If not, perhabs anybody of you have an idea for a workaround.

If you definitely have to use a list view (which is still not recommended), I suggest you create a report definition and get the query from report definition in a custom getContent activity and execute it.

Hi Marcel,
Is there a reason for using List Views. List views are deprecated from 7.2 onwards and it is best to use Report Definitions which have left and right outer joins available in it.

Hi Rajiv,
well I am using this list view to show search results (case search). We have already examples in our framework for that and I have followed this approach by using a ListView. I don't know if it would also work with a Report Definition. I need to check this. Thanks a lot for the hint.

Well I can't use unfortunately a Report Definition in this case. My idea is now to try to use a own Connect-SQL. If anybody has a better idea, please let me know.

I got another input via message, which I want to share: "We can't use the left outer join. If you want to acheive this then create a new view in DB, map with new class and use the same. There is another option by customizing the pega show activity/ get content, in this there is a java step which create the sql statement. You can change this as per your requirment but customizing this pega activities is not a good practice."
