Issue in loading VM for System architect essentials 7.3/7.4

I am using VM for learning system architect essentials 7.3/7.4.
I get the error "Operating system not found" when I start the same.
I am using VMware Workstation 12 player. PFA error.
Please advise.

Check the size of the VM download and the converted VMDK/VBOX file. They should be sized in multiple gigabytes. If they're not, then either the download or the conversion went awry.
- The download file should be: ~5.5 GB
- The VMDK file should be: ~12 GB
Once you determine the size of the files, post your results back here and we can try and figure out what happened - and how.
The solution may be as simple as updating your copy of VMWare Player and reimporting the OVA.

It looks like I have this problem only with VMware Workstation 12 player. I just installed oracle virtual box and it works fine with it.

I would agree. If you're up and running with Virtual Box, then it's definitely an issue with the import into VMWare Workstation Player. The file size of the VMDK file (10MB) is definitely too small to support the Linux kernel, so that's the cause of the error.
You might also be able to address the issue by upgrading to a more recent version of VMWare Workstation Player and retrying the OVA import.
