I can't add a data object to my UI in Pega Personal edition 8.5
While using Pega 8.5 Personal Edition I can't add a data object to my UI. I can create the data object and populate it with data but I can't add the object to my UI. During a Pega 8.4 low code workshop that I attended recently I was able to do this easily by accessing the data object list while configuring an assignment's view. I don't know if things have changed in 8.5 and I'm having a documentation issue or if there is a bug. In the end I want to present a list of the rows from my data object in the view. I've attached a few screenshots.

Hi John,
Did you try,
1. Navigating to the Data Explorer in the Dev Studio
2. Add a data type- Provide the Data Type Name and Click Submit.
Another way is to open the class, Click on the Class Name and Select "Add to Data Explorer" from the Menu.

I have not tried that. I know that I can use dev studio to do this. I have a lot of experience with the pega 7 versions. I'm trying to learn the new Pega 8.5 low code features and want to help train others to use this version. With that in mind I'd like to do as much as I can in App studio.

I've added another screenshot from a PRPC 8.4 cloud system that was created as part of some online training missions that I've been working on. On this system it was super easy to include a data object into a view from App Studio. I don't have access to a full installation of 8.5 yet to see if my issue is just a limitation of Personal Edition.

In the release of 8.5 the data modeling interface was updated to enable the creation of data relationships. As part of that work the Data Object option you referenced in 8.4 was removed. This link created a field in the Cases data model that created a relationship between the Case and the Data object.
The same results can be achieved by creating a field of type "Data Relationship". To create a new data relationship to a data object you can follow the below high level steps. These steps can be used from the data model tab or when building a view. There is more detail in the community article "Adding Data Relationships to Forms and data models".

- Click on Add field to create a new field to define the relationship
- Name the field
- Select the Type "Data Relationship"
- In the "Target Type" drop down (Gray box), select the Data object you want to build the relationship to (i.e ServicingOptions).
- The options will allow to define how many records will be referenced. To replicate the previous configuration leave this set to single.
- Enable the "Load from data source" Option to enable the field to be populated with information from the data object.
- Click submit to create the field
- If you created the field from the view, it will be added automatically to the form.
- Once the field is on the view you will need to configure it to display a search box
- Click on the Gear on the right side of the Row
- Select the "Search box" option in the drop down to prompt the user with a list of choices.
The new experience allows for more complex configurations that are needed when working with data objects that are built from REST interfaces. We are always working to improve the authoring experiences, and input like this greatly helps set our direction.
