How to Retain error messages while opening and closing modal dialog

I am facing issue while opening and closing modal dialog. The error messages are getting cleared when dialog box opens. Any idea how can we retain errors when opening and closing modal dialog box.

1) Where are you setting the error messages.
2) Implementation screenshots for better understanding.
3)How are you triggering the Pop-up window.
In general, if error messages exists on primary page then pop-up will not close.

On click of save and continue i want to show Pop-up Window if there are errors on the page.
1. For that i am using Run activity action on save and continue button to trigger the validations. In activity i'm using Obj-Validate method to do validation and setting one property = "Errors" if errors are there.
3.Pop up are getting triggered via the local action Modal dialog .
