How to open a rule in Designer Studio from Javascript?
Hi,
I would like to add a link in a HTML rule that could open a rule (an Acticity or a DataTransform specified by its Class and Name) directly in Designer Studio, the same way you can do it by using the open rule icon in Live UI. Is it possible?

I have found a solution by using pega.desktop.openRule instead of pega.desktop.openRuleByClassAndName (because I can find the last one in Pega 7.3 but not in Pega 7.4). In the HTML rule:
<pega:include name="DesktopWrapperInclude"/>
...
<script>
function openInDesignerStudio() {
openRule('<.pzInsKey of the rule>');
}
</script>
...
<a href="javascript:openInDesignerStudio()">Open rule!</a>

Hi, You could try java function pega.desktop.wks.openRule, here is an example and you need to pass the required parameter when you invoke it :

Could you share your code where you invoke this method and the Pega version? Couple of things to remember while using this method is that
1) The user should have developer portal access in order to open the rule in designer studio
2) While the invoking this from html rule you should get the correct window. You could check to see if you can access the method (for example window.pega.desktop.wks.openRule) from developer tools and investigate as a first step.
The first argument represent which portal the rule should open into. Example "Developer" or may be "pxPredictionStudio". The next 2 parameters are for its rule type and rule name. The last one is optional if you don't specify it should be rule resolved.

Hi,
I'm using Pega 7.3 and Pega 7.4, and I'm unable to find any reference to "pega.desktop.wks."
However, I have found a way to do it by using pega.desktop.openRuleByClassAndName:
This is working fine when I run from a Menu Item, but I need to do it from Javascript.
I have an HTML rule with this code:
<a href="javascript:pega.desktop.openRuleByClassAndName('RULE-OBJ-ACTIVITY!ONBEFOREDISPLAY', 'Rule-Obj-Activity')">Open rule!</a>
When I click on the link I got:
Uncaught ReferenceError: pega is not defined
at <anonymous>:1:1
Do you know what/how I need to import to make it work? I don't know how to use in my Javascript any function starting with "pega."
