How long/much work history data we should keep for good practice
We have too many data is saving to pc_work_history table and we rarely used these data, and we don't have any report against this table. The increased data caused some database maintanance issue. If we keep only 6 months data and schedule a periodic clean up, would that be a good practice?

Depending on your data retention policy, you can purge the data when appropriate. There is no best practise and its based on your companies data retention policy.
