How to display assignment when requirement is like this...
we have requirements to display all the assignment of a logged in user where we are using a report definition of the Assign-Work list class to display all the assignment of the corresponding logged in user.But we have another requirement where user can search with the file number where we are using the same assignment class report definition to filter the item with that file number in any user work list.
But if the assignment is inside any workbasket we could not able to display this,or take this scenario when assignment exists both work list and work basket how system will display this.
Any kind of help is really appreciated.

While the work assignment presented to user, logic should be give user access to what they need to work on, while the search case/file is performed, the user should get access to the file rather than individual assignments. file can have multiple subcases and it is not an nice idea to show multiple assignment in search grid as that will confuse user. Best solution is present the file/case and user can open and see different stage of the subcases under that.
the simple solution is to create another RD on work table and let the search performed from there.

- use case seems similar to Get next work
- when user ticks the option 'Get from workbaskets first' under work tab of operator rule form
- it queries Assign-Workbasket first then goes to Assign-WorkList if no matching assignment is retrieved
- RULE-OBJ-ACTIVITY WORK- GETNEXTWORKOBJECT.
- it queries Assign-Workbasket first then goes to Assign-WorkList if no matching assignment is retrieved
- when user ticks the option 'Get from workbaskets first' under work tab of operator rule form
- similarly if the file number searched is not found in Current user Assign-WorkList
- we may need to continue the search on Assign-WorkList without current operator filter OR
- to pull the assignment - we should be having appropriate privileges
- perform the search on Assign-Workbasket to pull the assignment.

is the scenario built using pxChangeStage API?
- we could set param CleanupProcess as true to clean up the existing assignment.

Actually a file no related to multiple assignment of single work item let me give you an example
File No :12345
we have case:Case-1
case have 2 different process get contact information and provide your suggestion both are parallel process.
one assignment get contact information goes to user work list and another assignment provide your suggestion goes to a work basket.
Now user search with a file no how system can able to display user both of the assignment at a time in a single list.

- I believe - in this scenario (parallel process) - system will pull from Assign-Worklist and skip Assign-WorkBasket as assignment found in worklist.

also if two assignments are assigned to worklist or workbasket
- urgency, skills, Likelihood etc...would be considered in picking up the assignment
- or the iteration/search will be skipped/exit on first match.
if we retrieve the case itself by its pzInskey [openWorkByHandle] instead of assignment
- user will be presented with assignment(s) on review harness
