HAZELCast Externalization
We are planning to externalize Hazelcast for our pega platform deployments currently deployed on VMs. I see documentations/articles that highlights the approach for deploying the hazelcast clustering service on both k8s as well as on VM. Because we have a goal towards migrating our Pega workloads as well eventually to k8s, I think it is logical to deploy the hazelcast clustering service on k8s(with the Pega platform running on VMs). Is this ok or recommended? or should we first externalize by deploying hazelcast clustering service on VMs and then plan the migration of both Pega Platform as well as HazelCast Clustering Service together to K8S?

@SriHarsha Anika We are currently running on AWS(Customer managed cloud) and we would like to stay. Infact we underwent a major migration effort during 2019 to migrate from Pega Cloud to our own cloud infrastructure.
So my question is more focused around the steps for executing this externalization in house for both VM Based deployment(Current state) and for K8S(future state).
Can you provide your answer based on the above?

@SethuS88 i have specified it as "Cloud" which can be a pega cloud or a client managed cloud.

VM based deployments are being deprecated. follow the above guideline to install in K8's

@SriHarsha Anika Pega Cloud cann't be a single point of solution for every single problem out there.
There are many maturities in the processes should happen post compliance, legal, security etc etc concerns addressed.

Agree with this point.
Client Managed Cloud is still a service. Not everyone uses or will move to Pega Cloud.
Looking forward to the Pega response on this question.
In the meantime, can I ask if Pega provide L4 support for Hazelcast now that Pega customers get the right to use Hazelcast?

you would need hazelcast only if you are hosting more than one cluster else hazelcast is not required.
