Error loading 'xxxx_Debug.OpenSpan' An item with the same key has already been added
I am working through the Pega Robotic Automation Architect Essentials and continue to face a debug error...
Error loading 'Main-UI_Debug.OpenSpan' An item with the same key has already been added.
Any thoughts please?

I don't think I've seen this error before. I would delete the contents of the Users/*user*/Documents/Project/bin/debug folder - then do a fresh re-build of the project in Studio. Check task manager and make sure there are no "OpenSpan.Runtime.exe" processes running. If there is, end those processes. After doing that, try starting the debugger.
If you create a new project, does this error still happen?

Thank you vegam - I tried the following things, and it resolved the issue:
1. Deleted contents of debug folder and did a fresh re-build
2. Changed the Interaction XML file (there was one provided in the training docs)
3. Deleted and re-created two global containers
These things seem to have fixed the issue; I have a hunch #2 might have been the primary culprit.
