Encrypted String Variables Debug with Special Characters
I'm trying to store the password for website of an RPA job in a string variable that I have set the Encrypt boolean flag to true. When I debug my job the string contains a special character that has replaced one of the characters in the string. Am I missing something or not using encrypted string variables correctly? Is there a smarter way the manage sensitive data like passwords from with in the project?

I'm not sure if ASO will work for this particular web application. The username is entered first followed by a submit button. Then, password and another submit button. All on the same page.

I think you can still use the ASO component to handle and store your passwords safely. I've added some screenshots that may help you, but I'm basing this off the information given.
1. Add the Username/Password to the credential collector (Don't add the login button(s)).
2. Have an automation display the ASO/Credential Dialog for the user to input their creds. I'm not sure where this fits in your solution, but the option is there.
3. Use the ASO GetCredentials() to get the Username and Press the 1st login btn. Then, use GetCredentials() again to retrieve the password use it for the 2nd part of the login.

I can't seem to get ASO to prompt without a LogonControl assigned. Also, I can't seem to find the ASO Manager component to access GetCredentials, just CredentialStore. I'm using the Visual Studio Plug-in if that helps.

I'm using the plugin as well (SP1-8.0.2003). I'm not sure what version included the ASO Component however.
If you don't see it in the toolbox, try right clicking in the toolbox, select Choose Items, select the .NET Framework Components tab, and then filter down by typing ASO. Check ASO Manager and click OK.
Regarding the ASO credential prompt: The ASO Component will have both methods you need to achieve this. (See AddCred.png in previous post and screenshot attached to this)

Thanks for your help! I was able to basically do what you said in order to get it to work. I also switched the AutoFillOnCreate flag to false in the Credential Collection Editor.
