Email Account Configuration with basic authentication

As per the organization policy basic authentication is not recommended; But, with Pega Email Account Configuration there isn't any other alternative as of now, though client is looking forward to satisfy their security policy demands.

Also as per this Microsoft article, the basic authentication would be deprecated in the near future.

 Is there any other alternative authentication for Email Account Configuration (Inbound and Outbound)?

Also, oAuth or any other mechanism would be introduced in the near future?
