Dnodes and Casandra data base role in pega marketing

Hi,

I see some Dnode configurations and Casandra data base references in pega marketing campaign run. What is the scope of these two in pega marketing? I read some information on PDN related to Dnode/casandra database and they are saying it is for processing large data. But didn't get the info related to pega marketing.

Can some one please help me in undestandin these 2 related to Pega Marketing. (Any useful links also can help me)
