Diference between backup-restore and Import-Export

What is the difference between using Import-Export & Backup-restore to copy the data from lower env. database to production database while doing Pega 7.1.9 upgrade using MSSQL database?

Have seen some issues during upgrade when backup-restore was used. Would like to confirm if someone else has experienced the same.

Hi,

As per my knowledge Import and export back can be done for objects or specific tables and we talk about the back up restore we need to the entire database(all tables) back up and move to other environments. Generally we use back up and restore to move from lower to production environments.

Import-Export is not recommended for the upgradation as it does not preserves workflows instances, associations, history and tasks. So, whenever upgrading please use backup-restore as backup preserves everything from workflows to permissions etc.
