Database for banking application

Current Pega application db used is MS SQL Server 2016 will it be helpful to move to Postgress.

I am not having idea why they were using MS SQL Server 2016. I was asked to see will it be beneficial if we move to Postgress. Any inputs please.

Its a old Pega application in one of the bank.
