We dont have auto generated way of passing the parameter to custom control directly in Report Definition formats. However, I see a way to achieve the requirement.

You can read the parameter value directly in the control code using the following code snippet.

<%   ParameterPage params = tools.getParameterPage();      String myIndex= params.getString("index"); %> <H1> <%=myIndex%></H1> /* this is the way to display the value */

You may wonder, reading the parameter value is ok, how to pass your value to parameter or how to know weather your value exist in the parameter page or not. 

To know your value/property present in the parameter page, please run the following code snippet, which will give all the parameter property keys those are currently present in the parameter page.

<%   ParameterPage params = tools.getParameterPage();

Iterator itr = params.keySet().iterator();

while(itr.hasNext()){

  String key = (String)itr.next(); //Key has all the parameter page keys

}

%>

So, you should push the property you want to pass as a parameter to be made available in parameter page so that you can read the value in the custom control. Or you can read the any property on any page and pass in the custom control code using pega public api

I tried with index, and in my case, index is a predefined parameter page property, so I see the value is coming up when running the report definition.
