Creating a New Application using Enterprise Application wizard throws circular error.
Hello All,
I have seen a circular class referencing issue while running a Enterprise Application wizard for creating an application. Below are the steps I have followed:
1. Run the wizard with below options
- Give Org as XYZ, Let Div and Unit be Same
- Application Name: ABC application
- Now select to generate the application only for FW layer with PegaRules as base product.
- Add case type and generate the application.
Note: XYZ class will be created and it will be inherited from Work-Cover-
XYZ class ruleset is Org ruleset (XYZ)
Now your application class will be something like this: XYZ-FW-ABCFW-Work.
2. Run the wizard with below options:
- Give Org as XYZ, Let Div and Unit be Same
- Application Name: ABCImpl application
- Now select to generate the application only for Implementation layer with ABC as base product.
- Add case type and generate the application.
Once you click on create application, we will get a circular reference error.
After analysis, noticed that for XYZ class wizard is trying to update the pattern inheritance from Work-Cover- to FW level work group class.
XYZ class ruleset is updating to ABCImpl ruleset.

XYZ class ruleset is updating to ABCImpl ruleset.
This is root cause to throw error on the wizard. However made progress by making some changes and run the wizard (these changes are not proper steps to do) successfully. I have tried this couple of times before fixing the issue.
Using Pega ML9, PVS edition.
Can someone check this and let us know if this is a product issue or expected behavior.
Thanks
Sam
