Configuring a Loading Icon to Display while a button is loading

Hello,

I have a requirement to display a loading icon while a clicking on the button

I have tried the approach in https://support.pega.com/question/showing-loading-icon-display-while-flow-loading, but it is not successful. 

In this approach, it doesn't run the script on clicking the link in the navigation menu. 

Any insight would be appreciated.
