Best Practice : Maximum number of rules in ruleset
Hi,
I noticed that some of the PEGA applications that i worked with had 25,000 + rules in a single Ruleset both in implementation and Application Framework levels. I think having too many rules in single Ruleset makes them not reusable and hard to maintain in the future. PEGA Procom Ruleset has around 17,000 rules.
Based on your experience, what is the limit (10K, 20K, etc...) for the number of rules a ruleset can have ? I know it varies based on the application requirements and other technical dependencies but i am just looking for some guidelines or suggestions.

Hi Yerasi,
We have seen very few customers having around 10-12 K rules in single ruleset .
As you correctly pointed out, it is always better and wise to have less number of rules in a single version to make them reusable in future.

There are some hard limits you can actually observe due to specific or default maxlimits in place for report rules, obj-browse, and executeRDB. If you have more of something than fits within that maxlimit, some are necessarily missed, and the ones that are actually missed are determined by the collating sequence. /Eric
