Assorted Chars were not storing properly

Hi, we are using Pega 6.1v. I am facing issue with Assorted Characters. Whenever i type any assorted chars (È,É,Å) pega is interpreting them in different forms. Ex; when i type È its storing as \00E. Please let me know the issue here.
