Activity skipping OBJ-browse when not private edited

Hello

I am facing a weird issue. I have an activity where I am doing a simple OBJ-Browse on a data class. The OBJ-Browse step is failing citing invalid SQL Statement ORA-00900. But the same activity correctly executes the obj-browse step when i private edit the activity. It's in Pega 7.1.5

I am unable to understand where the issue lies. Can you guys please throw some light and help me resolving it?
