Pega AES 8.3 Platform Support
We have a large on premise Pega AES 7.3 installation based on Oracle WebLogic and an Oracle Database. We are monitoring 13 Pega production and acceptance clusters with more than 120 Pega nodes. To improve the performance we have partitioned the two large AES tables PEGAAM_ALERT and PEGAAM_EXCEPTION by cluster two years ago. The performance with this setup is not overwhelming but it is acceptable.
The current restriction of Pega AES 8.3 to a single platform combination (Tomcat 8 + PostgreSQL 11) unfortunately makes AES 8.3 unusable for us. Offering an "enhanced" AES version for PostgreSQL 11 only (with the daily partitioning scheme used in the PDC setup) would be okay for us. However, not supporting any other platform combination is really disappointing.
Does Pega have any plans to offer and support an AES 8.x version without the PostgreSQL 11 specific partitioning enhancements that at least supports Oracle as a database platform in the (near) future?

You are not alone on this boat. Yes, we are at Ford are largely using AES v7.x installations for quite some time, monitoring about 50 Environments.
As part of our CoE initiatives, we wanted to upgarde the AES,after spending good amount of time we come to know Pega was initially stop supporting any new updates to AES, rather it encouraging customers to convert them to PDC, as PDC is much advanced version to AES. However, due to few circumstances (customers like FBI etc.,), Pega had to continue offer AES, however with limited support i.e., If you want to run PDC, you should use infrastructure like PDC, in other words Tomcat 8 + PostgreSQL 11, multitenancy supported. At this time Pega doesnt have any plans to expand the support to other technology stack for AES Server. Your AES Clients can be on any Platform Supported technology stacks, but not the AES Server stack.
AES gets updates once a year, where as PDC gets updates almost once a week.PDC is free and completely maintained by Pega.
After careful considerations on the data retention and few other security details, we have decided to migrate our applications to PDC from AES.

In your case, you have couple choices: #1. Convert AES Monitoring into PDC (Preferred) , #2 Get a new hardware stack for AES v8.x which meet the requirements of Latest AES, #3. Spin up a Docker Environment with Pega image, which will default comes with Tomcat and Multitenancy Supported, in this case, you need Database as Postgres, in case if you would like to conitue using the Oracle database, it will work as well, but few new features may not be available (all AES features will be available).
