Passivation mechanism with Pega 8
Hi,
In Pega 5 - 7, there was a functionality called "Passivation" that is triggered by user requestor's timeouts. The clipboard data on memory was saved into a file in "PassivationData" directory under temp.
However I am not seeing such files / directory in my local Pega 8 environment. I used to be able to check actual passivated data by SMA but in Pega 8 SMA is even not found.
#1. Is Passivation functionality still in-place?
#2. How can I check the passivated data if SMA is deprecated?

Passivation is available in pega 8 also.
Database passivation storage corresponds to the following prconfig.xml file setting: <env name="initialization/persistrequestor/storage" value="database" />

My question is, in Pega 7, files are created as filesystem is by default. However in Pega 8, unless I update DSS / prconfig.xml, it doesn't create a file. So I am now guessing that the default storage is changed from file to database? Is that so?

In pega 8.1,The default passivation storage is database, which is most efficient and robust. Please refer 8.1 help page .
In pega 7.3, By default, passivation details are saved as files on each Pega Platform server. Please refer 7.3 help page

Pega Platform 7 used to provide an interface where administrator can check page, thread, and requestor on UI by SMA. Now that SMA is deprecated in Pega Platform 8 and how can I do the same?

Hi,
Adminstudio is introduced in place of SMA from pega 8 onwards. You can use adminstudio for the same.
