UDF's; are they required for full functionality within PRPC

Does the PRPC platform make use of UDF functionality? Whenever we have Oracle upgrades/patching our DB team indicates that any db using java functionality (installed udfs) needs to be brought down completely. We will be installing a new instance of PRPC for a group within our company and, if UDFs aren't required for the platform to work properly I would like to avoid the outages. We will be using 8.1.1 for the new group/application.

Hi,

Pega always suggest to expose/optimize the property.

UDF's are not suggested to be installed on Prod environment.
