Pega Java Compatibility
Hello Team,
We have a question about Pega and Java compatibility.
Our Current Pega platform version is Pega 7.1.5. And our Java platform version is Java 7. Our system is facing some vulnerability issues with this Java version(7). To fix these vulnerability issues we have to upgrade Java version to Java 8.
As per latest Platform support document, the lowest Pega 7 platform version which supports Java 8 is Pega 7.1.8.
But, we are looking for an answer for the question - is there any option to use Java 8 as Java platform version without upgrading Pega platform version ?
Please suggest us.

Thanks a bunch for your response. Now my next question will be - technically what will be the best choice of Pega version to upgrade -
1. A small jump(in terms of version difference) - Upgrade to Pega 7.1.8 version to avail the Java 8 features OR
2. A big jump(in terms of version difference) - Upgrade to Pega 7.4 version (My client has no plan to go beyond this version as of now ) OR
3. Any other version in between 7.1.8 and 7.4 ?

Unless there is a business case, it is recommended to upgrade to the latest greatest version of Pega.

I would not recommend trying this. But this is a good problem to have, maybe this will be enough reason for your management to consider a Pega upgrade as well. 7.1.5 is pretty old in the the grand scheme of things.
So if you must upgrade your platform, that is also a good time to have Pega go along for the ride ;)
