Is ear file deployment required for PEGA high availability setup on Apache tomcat?

We have currently PEGA 7.2 war is deployed on tomcat 8 with no high availability setup.

Before PEGA HA setup do we need to replace war with ear on Tomcat server?

Please kindly suggest me.

And also high availability would have more to do with multi node architecture rather than having EAR deployment.
