What is package server in Openspan? How it differs from Robot manager?
The Robot Manager runs on a Pega instance and the Package server which runs on a windows instance. Robot Manager handles the lifecycle of the packages: IE what versions exist and what stage they are in. Based on that it controls who has access to those packages and version. Package Server actually contains the packages.
Hope this helps.
Package server will come along with the runtime package.
There is No direct communication between package server and Robot manager... interaction is only through runtime/studio
Scenario 1 : On Deployment - Studio pushed the deployment package to the package server ( creates a folder by project id and version ) and also publishes the meta data to Robot manager.
scenario 2 : on runtime : runtime checks for the assigned package for the user in the robot manger and retrieves the metadata . using that it fetches the respective package from the package server.
Hope this clarifies the doubts.
