What is the significance of Enable checkbox in Declare Index rule?

Hi All,

Can somebody help me understand what is the significance of Enable checkbox in Declare Index rule? Can't find in the help too.

I believe it was used at one point to enable the When condition on the declare index. I checked my 7.3.1 system and it does not look like the checkbox is used anymore as I can see my When rule execute even without checking the Enabled box. I will submit a bug item to have the documentation and rule form reviewed.
