production level is 2 ( changing this to 5 will improve any performance )

the "production level" is set to 2 in prod, changing this to 5 will impact any performance or can any once provide "benefits from performance improvement side we will have".

The production level attribute affects application security rather than performance.
This production level and access roles together determine class access — which users can create, update, delete, and otherwise operate on objects of specific classes through Access of Role to Object rules (Rule-Access-Role-Obj rule type).
If your production level of the system is set to 2 instead of 5 in PRODUCTION then I recommend that you change it back to 5 for obvious reasons of not compromising security.
If your primary concern is the system/environment's performance, I recommend that you review each of the links below to identify areas of improvement in your environment and apply them accordingly.
