How to write a function alias to concatenate dates
Hi i have a requirement where i need to show from and to dates in format 01/01/17 to 31/01/17 as single column in report defnition.
so i am thinking writing a function alias is the way to do it , but i am having problem with writing the code.
could anyone please provide the code

but i follwed a different approch to fullfill my requirement ,I created a function alias to cast date type to text type and
used the ootb concatenate function .

Please let me know what problem your facing at your end.
The OOTB concatenate function in report definition works well at my end when considering both the properties as string. Let me know if this works for you.

If Dates were stored in varchar Datatype that would work as expected, but in my case the dates are stored in Date type hence cant be used in default concatenate function, so i want to write my own function alias to concatenate dates but having struggle in coding part.

Hi Malliswar,
1) Include both the columns in the report definition which holds the from and to date column values.
2) Check the hide checkbox on both the properties in the display columns of the report definition.
3) write a function on a third property like pyNote which also has to be included in the RD. This function should be capable of reading the value from both the date properties and concatenate them as required. This is possible if the RD is running on a Pega table and not any external table. Also you might not be able to perform any type of sorting on this property when it is displayed.
