Quick Tip - Categorize Your Discussion
Before posting a question/discussion, make sure to assign at least one category to it. As the knowledge-base continues to grow, categories will help members to view existing posts related to specific subject areas.
We've started with a list of categories we believe capture the main Pega 7 product categories, but that's from our point-of-view. Provide suggestions for additional categories we haven't thought of below. It's important that we don't get carried away and find ourselves left with an unwieldy list of categories, so no promises. But we absolutely give consideration to each and every suggestion.

Hi Pankaj,
Based on the screenshot you provided above, the reason you are not seeing the Categories for the Pega Product Support area is because you are creating your new discussion in a different area (Reporting UI 7.1).
Just click the blue change link (see screenshot below), and you can change the Place to the Pega Product Support area. You will then see the Categories in Mary's screenshot above.
Thanks,
Marc

Awesome. as I mentioned in the other thread (Re: Categorizing / Qualifying Discussions) - the standard support categories have long been missing Developer Studio -- including ruleforms and any other developer tools.

Also, it should be noted, the Category implementation in Jive 7 are still half-baked. As far as I've looked, there's no standard navigation built around categories (e.g., a generated page showing content related to that page -- much in the way that conventional discussion forum software would show).
That is possible with tags, though. Though I'll add here that tagging is also half-baked. Jive has swallowed the old folksonomy myth that tags are "self organizing",, but the reality is that you get duplicates like this; and to my awareness there's no tool for cleaning it up.

Hi Jon -
You are correct that Jive does not provide tag management and many customers have requested that. They have more moved into a fuzzy matching strategy as well as multi-word tags as a way to try and support all options that a user might use for tagging. I believe the kind of page you are referring to around categories doesn't exist because categories are container based vs. site wide. The category widgets as well as permlinks to category filtered result sets are about what can be done to create navigation directly to content based on categories.
If you have more questions or comments on Jive itself, please place those in the Mesh Help area of the Mesh which is committed to usage of the community. The Pega Product Support area will only address usage questions, how-to's, etc. on existing Pega products.
Thanks!
