Error extracting the exercise system
I have downloaded the exercise system twice now and tried to extract it. I get the following error:
Error 0X80004005
Pega Marketing Introduciton 7.1.nvram
If I skip it, I get the same error for the next file.
There is no exe file in the download so I'm sure how to get this working properly so that I can complete the course. Any help would be appreciated.

I am assuming you are using Windows?
What app are you using to extract the .exe-based archive?

I am using Windows. I am not trying to extract the exe. I'm using the link in Pega Academy to download the zip file. When you extract the zip file to the pega-vm folder you get the error. I've looked in the zip to see if there is an exe or install program but there isn't.

sorry - I forgot that this was a .zip archive and not the self-extracting .exe archive.
What archive app are you using to unzip the archive?
WinZip? WinRar? 7Zip?

I have no idea. I right click on the file and use the 'extract all' function. There doesn't appearto be a separate zip program installed. It doesn't show the program name anywhere.

What version of Windows are you using?
I googled the error message and it seems to indicate the native Windows archive utility does not support the compressed file - it simply doesn't understand it.
Is it possible to download and install any of the open-source archive utilities? Any of them are orders of magnitude better than what comes with any version of Windows.
I tested this particular .zip file on my Mac and was able to extract it with StuffIt Expander - and it works.
StuffIt Expander - 7Zip - WinRAR - WinZip (technically a trial version)

OK. I downloaded stuffit expander (64 bit version) and installed it. Then I ran it against both version of the download. In both case I got an error that indicated the file is corrupt. I've downloaded this twice and the file sizes are identical. Not sure what to do at this point.

Mike,
The solution is to use 7-zip.
The exercise system VM is compressed into a ZIP file. Please be aware that Microsoft Windows operating systems only supports the original .ZIP algorithm that has a 4.2 GB file size limit. The new ZIP64 algorithm that handles larger files is supported by free tools like: 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/)
