CONNECT REST - peer not authenticated exception

We are trying to call a REST API protected via OAuth 2.0 token authorization. Certificate is needed to generate the token and its installed under the trust store. But still we are getting this error while calling the API. Please let me know if you came across similar exception.

javax.net.ssl.SSLPeerUnverifiedException: peer not authenticated
 

Version used: Pega 7.1.5
