What is the difference when an activity to download Excel file is run by using Launch Harness and Open-URL-In Window actions

Hi, Am currently using PEGA 8.4.1. When I wright an activity to download an excel file and configure it to run on click of a link by using Launch Harness (In Pop-up) or Open-URL in Window, what makes difference? Because, Open-URL In Window is working fine where as When I configure it using Launch-Harness (In Pop-up) is not working.

Both use to work for me in 8.1.4. What is the change made in 8.4.1 version, so that it is not working when using Launch-Harness?

Hi Sandeep,

The content type might differ, Launch harness would result the content type as text/html, for a binary stream or for a single binary file, this is not a valid content type. Where in OpenURLInWindow doesn't enforce a content type, thus file gets downloaded Properly. 

For file download kind of scenario, Please avoid Refresh section / harness / launch harness actions. These are meant to be for displaying a HTML page and expects a HTML response.

Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for your reply. This adds very valuable information. But what is the reason beyond why it is working in 8.1.4 and not in 8.4.1. Any specific reason beyond this? How does returned content-type impacts downloading of file?
