Using S3 storage - repositories split and links

We're planning to migrate attachments to S3 storage and need help with these 2 following questions:

1. Are links updated automatically when migrating repo using PEGA Migration Assistant?

2.  Migration is to happen only for closed cases - do we need to create a new repository and manually move all closed cases attachments to this repo before continuing?
