Updating Datatype(Data class) in Pega Platform from RPA

Is it possible to update the Datatype(Data class) of Pega Platform directly from RPA? We had tried to expose the Data class as a Service using Service-REST component and call the endpoint using RPA. Is there an alternate approach that is available?
