Two records for a pair of subject ID and associated ID in the association table

Hi Team,

I have a design on the identity matching associations created by Pega.

For the pair that consists of a subject ID and an associated ID, two records are created in the association table (one for the subject ID with the corresponding associated ID, the second for the associated ID with the corresponding subject ID).

Why it is creating two records? What the logic behind it? How it is used by IH table, if there are two records?
