Token based authentication for REST services from Pega application

Our company has its own OpenID identifier. We want to authenticate our REST services through this authentication mechanism. How can this be done?

We tried to repurpose our SSO to authenticate the service but this doesn't help as it shows 401. Unable to identify the root cause. What shall be the best way to do it?
