Sever side validation for Multi select List

Hello,

I need to do the Server side Validation for Multi-select List Drop down. In my case, selecting an option is mandatory for Multiselect List. When nothing is selected from Multi-select List Drop down, an error message has to displayed on the Multi-select List field (Server side validation).
