Session stuck after 8.6 upgrade with fuzzy search custom control

We have a requirement for executing fuzzy search logic for auto-complete. Hence we created a custom control.

It was created when the Pega version was 8.3. We have recently upgraded to 8.6. Now if I am tracing the actions done on the screen, my requestor is stuck when the tracer is launched and the busy indicator will always be on the screen. Without the tracer, everything looks good. I have checked the logs- no issue seen. Even verified the alert logs but no luck. Console and network also haven't shown any issues. I am sure something isn't right there but we are unable to identify it. Does it have something to do with BAC?
