If both REST and SOAP service options are avaiable, do we prefer one over another?

It depends on our requirment and the format which we need to get data. SOAP is bounded to XML format whereas REST is not limited to XML. We can use JSON,Text, XML with REST.

We have to look into security aspects also.

I found http://www.javatpoint.com/soap-vs-rest-web-services link. It may give some basic differences b/n SOAP n REST

Hi,

Rest IS more Effective than the Soap And RESt. SOAP Used for Send Complex Details. but REST is Supported So many Format Type ex:Http,Xml, Text Ect
