Reason to differentiate Pega API and Pega Internal data format in JSON data transform

Hi ,

When i exploring pega 8.X version in JSON data transform pega has differentiated date format as Pega API and Pega internal.

Just want to understand the purpose this.

Need some examples.

i don't find much information in pega help
