pxsessiontimer not working when opening the work object from a link

usecase - 

we are opening a work object through a link from Email . the work object will be opened in a confirm harness . we embed the pxsessiontimer in one of the header section . but it is not working . when we traced through the developer tool console , the script is not going inside the function "desktop_restartTimeoutWarningTimer" . any suggestions please ?
