Please describe how the name PEGA was originated or chosen?
Hi All,
Iam novice to PEGA platform so it would be helpful if anyone can describe how the name PEGA was originated or chosen?
I did read Wikipedia article on PEGA systems history and the initial purpose for which PEGA software was developed.
However couldnot find how the name PEGA was chosen, so was just keen on knowing it.

Pega's logo is a flying horse. In Greek mythology there was a flying horse named "Pegasus".

Our founder, Alan Trefler was/is interested in Greek mythology and also chess - having drawn the chess world championship with Pal Banko. Combine the Greek legend of Pegasus the horse, gifted to Hercules by Zeus and also conveniently resembling a chess knight piece and you have a nice logo. Also the legend speaks of Pegasus "the divine winged white horse, was the offspring of the god Poseidon and the gorgon Medusa. He was born from Medusa’s blood after she was beheaded by Perseus, arising from her head or from the blood that had seeped into the earth" Just as Pegasus was created from the destruction of the gorgon Pegasystems' birth came from project work where Alan had the idea of building a system that did the same for business logic, that databases were starting to do for data .. i.e. extracting it from applications and creating a reusable Pegasystem that today we would refer to as a rules engine.
