Pega7.1.9: Case Type as a child case and as a top level case
Hi All, I am trying to have a case type which could either be a child case of another existing parent case or it could be a top level case of its own. However, when i add the case type of child case in case designer, it is under the parent case as child as expected. but how do we get the case as top level case also? I do not see any option for that, did any one got to see alternatives for this?

When you are creating child case, select Derives from (Pattern) option as workpool instead of parent case then created child case will be appeared as top level case in application explorer

Thank you Rajendra. This option save the class as a sibiling of the parent case type. However, when we observe Case Explorer, it is still only as child of the parent case.
Am I correct to assume
1. Create top level case (not as child case)
2. Use Create Case Smart Shape to add as child in run time

The above approach is correct Vamshi. Alternatively, you can also right click on the parent case under which you want to have the child and select 'Add a child case type' , and while chossing the type of the child case you can select as Existing Case Type radio button.
