Pega OOTB APIs authentication changes

Hi Everyone, 

As we know this is the list of OOTB APIs supported in Pega platform: https://docs-previous.pega.com/data-management-and-integration/85/pega-api-services. And all of them use basic authentication by default. Are these APIs are getting used in Pega platform internally ?

If we change the authentication to OAuth 2.0 / Custom. Will it affect any internal activity in Pega platform  ?
