Hi Nishant,
We don’t have any comparison table as such for Designer Studio and Express. Both of them work on Pega 7 platform. You can find everything that Pega platform supports in Designer Studio. Whereas Pega Express gives you a glimpse into the power of the Pega Platform by exposing key elements and features in an accelerated environment. Users are advised to use Express to get started with their Pega application building, setting up any Pega strategic application or configuring the existing Pega application. When you have any need which is not available in Express, the Designer studio is just one click away.

Hi Nishant,
Thanks for posting on PSC.
I was able to find the Pega Express Help doc but it does not have a comparison chart: https://community.pega.com/sites/default/files/help_v731/express/procomhelpmain.htm
This video could shed more light: Pega 7.3.1 Update: What's New in Express
Here's how I got to all videos related to Pega Express.
I hope the above resources would help with your decision making.

Hi Suman, thanks for the response. I have tried pega express and designer studio in the meanwhile. My take is also similar as you explained in your post. Start application with pega express for high level prototype and jump to designer studio for complex rules and reports.

I want to understand what is the difference between building and application using Express vs the Traditional Designer Studio.
As a developer I want to understand what are the use case, where we should use Express for building and application and where we should not, as every release product is enhancing Express with more features need to understand how both are different from each other.
Thanks

To add to what Suman said Pega recommends using Pega Express extensively as the rules generated from Express are autogenerated and they extend from the correct design templates. These rules can be modified from the express itself easily by the business users(later in production). Whereas the rules developed from the designer studio are not always very business user-friendly and requires a developer to modify them
